I have a deep appreciation for Asian art and design. It seems natural that I should pursue the art of Chinese Brush Painting. Since beginning this journey I’ve been exposed to many different styles. I’m drawn to Chinese calligraphy and have spent many years with that as my focus.
I’ve studied with Chinese Master artists and calligraphers in China and the United States. I was fortunate in having the opportunity to study at the International College of the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China.
My work incorporates Chinese calligraphy in abstract paintings. I work on rice paper using Chinese ink and color along with Western watercolors. Each piece is wet mounted onto another paper prior to being framed.
There is an elegance and eloquence to Asian calligraphy when it’s done well. My intention is to bring this to each of my paintings while harmonizing with abstract work.
